Malpi International School believes that students should have access to schooling of the highest quality – one that is broad-based and balanced, as well as interactive and global in dimension. The School strives to inculcate a deep-rooted cultural grounding alongwith the confidence to forge ahead in the regional and international arena. The School encourages a genuine love of learning. It has an environment in which all pupils are encouraged to excel in whatever they undertake. It provides a secure, disciplined and happy residential community environment in which the pupils have found good friendships and personal fulfilment.

 

Though entirely secular, a clear moral foundation, a strong sense of ethics, a stress on character and commitment to democratic and universal values are present in everything and all programmes of the School.

 

The School is not only true to its founding principles of Enquire, Endeavour Excel, but also equips its students with important life skills through its holistic academic and co-curricular programmes.

 

Basic Curricular Structure:

  • The School day consists of eight periods alongwith regular games. It is followed by a ‘Preparatory’ time and After-School-Activities, of a minimum of 3- 4 hours each day.

 

  • The Academic Year is divided into 5 Evaluation Periods, i.e. the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th Period Performance Evaluations.

 

  • After every four to five weeks, a grading period ends. Students get a progress report that show their results and grades of that particular evaluation period.

 

  • At the end of every academic year, students receive their Student Assessment Record. This document reports the grades, effort and conduct for the term of different academic subjects as well as other activities.

 

Malpi International School students usually take a broad variety of classes which are continually evaluated and graded:

Language Arts:

Social Sciences:

(Full Credit) Economics, Office Management & Accountancy, Social Studies

(Half Credit) Value and Adolescent Education

Logic and Problem Solving (Math) and Discovery Sciences:

Information & Technology:

Co-curricular Activities:

The School strongly believes in the ‘holistic development’ of a child. Thus, co- curricular activities play a very important role in Malpi International School. The School offers many activities, like Sports, Clubs, Inter-House competitions, Horse-riding, Swimming, Pottery, Educational Excursions, Outdoor Education Programmes, International Exchange Programmes, Community Outreach Programmes, and many more. The varied range of co-curricular activities also come under the overall evaluation system.

 

Achievement Requirements

  • The final evaluation of a student is based on the entire year’s (1) Academic Progress, (2) Socio-Emotional Growth (3) Co-curricular Activities and (4) PhyEx work. Hence, the importance of regularity in work and performance in all aforementioned areas, and in all Periodic Performance Evaluations is imperative.

 

  • Students are expected to earn a minimum GPA of 1.6 and Effort Grade not more than 3, in all subjects taken during the year. Failing to do so, the student shall be granted “Conditional Preferment Status”.

 

  • A Conduct Code of 4 or 5 will also call for a “Conditional Preferment Status” for the student.

 

  • To remedy the student’s retention status, Parents must submit a formal written request to the School. The request must be submitted within one week of the receipt of the Student’s Final Assessment Record (SAR). Thereafter, they will receive an invitation to meet with the School Authorities to discuss the conditions required before “Regular Student” status can be granted.

Evaluation and Grading Structure

  • Students go through an ‘On-going Evaluation’ system throughout the Academic Year.

 

  • Students are evaluated in their academic subjects, their conduct, effort, Physical Excellence, Socio-Emotional Excellence and Co-curricular Activities.

 

  • Approximately every five to six weeks, students receive a progress report that shows the progress they achieve in their academic programmes, conduct, effort, residential programmes and activities.

 

  • The Academic Grading is based on a scale of 0-100 percent, and the Effort and Conduct Grade in a 1 to 5 rubric.

 

Periodic Performance Evaluations (PPE):

  • Students are evaluated in each subject during their Periodic Performance Evaluations through:
    • A series of written, oral, aural tests o Project works
    • Presentations
    •  
    • Assignments o Research

 

  • At the end of the Academic Year, students will receive a cumulative assessment report based on the scores of all the 5 Periodic Performance Evaluations along with their Skills-based Examination at the end of the year.

 

  • The Periodic Performance Evaluations for Grade X is based solely on a series of written tests in all subjects.

 

Honour Roll:

  • Honour Rolls are posted at the end of the Periodic Performance Periods. The Honour Rolls are based on the following:

 

PRINCIPAL’S MERIT LIST

  • The Principal’s Merit List is posted at the end of the Periodic Performance Evaluations.

 

  • Students included on the Principal’s Merit List must meet the following criteria:
    • GPA of 2.8 and above in all subjects
    • GPA of ‘3.6’ or above in any one Full-Credit Subject
    • OPA of ‘2.8’ or above in Physical Excellence and Socio-Emotional areas.
    • ‘2’ and above in all the Effort and Conduct Grades

 

GOOD CONDUCT LIST

  • The Good Conduct List will be posted at the end of the Periodic Performance Evaluations.

 

  • Students included on the Good Conduct List on the basis of the following:
    • GPA of ‘3.6’ in any one Full-Credit Subject or in any two Half-Credit Subjects
    • ‘2’ and above in all the Effort and Conduct Grades.
    • OPA of ‘2.8’ or above in Physical Excellence and Socio-Emotional areas.
    • No Review Grades
